Gel Stain Kitchen Cabinets Before And After
This is a more detailed video than my last one on how to gel stain your kitchen cabinets.
Gel stain kitchen cabinets before and after. With the oak cabinets the grain was very evident post staining. The gel stain is thick like pudding not a liquid. Below is a before and after of the gel stain used on the bathroom vanity. In the darker rooms like the bathrooms in our house this worked out fine.
While gel stain does go on thick and sit on the surface of the wood i found that you can still see and feel the natural wood grain beneath unlike paint. However there is no way i would attempt using gel stain on my kitchen cabinets as others have. I was thrilled with how it turned out. Sorry that it s so long but i wanted to make sure i covered as mu.
Prior to gel staining cabinets i had a lot of experience working with regular wood stain but i had never worked with gel stain. Maybe it was my oak cabinets but i have never had so much trouble getting something to look even. However my bright kitchen will not see gel stain. Gel stain will not require you to sand the product to a raw wood finish.
Between the gel stain on the vanity and the new mirror this bathroom had left its aging past behind. Gel stain is particularly forgiving with splotch prone woods like birch cherry maple and pine.
