Glass Shower Door Will Not Close
I have a seamless shower door.
Glass shower door will not close. My sliding shower door will not stay closed. One side is stable does not move. Test the door to see if it opens and closes. Lee is a true craftsman and the go to guy when i can.
The clamps are usually tightened to the glass with phillips head screwdrivers. Both doors drift back open about 1 5 to 1 75 instead of staying flush with door frame. Special thanks to lee sawyer your handyman lee for fixing the shower door by fabricating a small part. Specifically you need to check the hinges handles and latches.
Using a screwdriver or power drill tighten all of the screws in the shower door. It had to do with the rubber between the glass. If left undried you can end up with mold and water issues. Put one on the frame with tape and put the other on the glass so the glass is between.
Loosen the top hinge and the bottom one if the glass is not snug against it. While one fracture may not seem like a fatal blow over days or even hours these seemingly small fractures can grow causing your shower door to spontaneously shatter. The top hinge has come loose 3 times had to be repaired. Test the door to see if it opens and closes.
If you need more holding power put them so they the. Unless it s properly planned and designed a doorless shower can end up spraying water outside of the shower area which means towelling it up after every shower. To fix take off the sweep use a small wedge under the doors outer bottom edge loosen the 2 screws clamping the upper hinge use the wedge and slowly lift the door and push it a bit farther under then tighten the screws. Can this be a simple adj.
Open the door slightly and place wedges under it so the weight is supported. If that holds the door enough then epoxy then that way. Shower doors do not always break because of fractures though the door could be installed incorrectly or a simple piece of hardware could be missing causing the door to fall off or causing a small fracture due to misuse.
